Subject: 2009 St Louis Top Ten Tournament
Thirty years ago, 3 district teen quiz directors developed an idea to join together to organize a simple tournament where the best from each district could compete, challenge and sharpen each others skills and grow through fellowship with their peers from the other districts. That was, and still is, the goal and purpose of what is now known as the St Louis Top Ten, Gateway to the Word, Tournament.
This note brings you the general tournament information on this year’s event and details for registration. The attached document (in Adobe PDF format) will provide everything you need to know to get started. Details on housing are still being finalized. These will be available soon on the web page. We will let you know when the web site is fully ready.
Offering
As in the past, the offering this year will go to support the Global NYI Bible Quiz Ministry. The NYI continues to introduce, promote, and train leaders for Bible Quizzing in the other World regions. One of the greatest needs to accomplish this is to provide translated materials for the leaders in Global churches.
The cost to translate one years material into a single language is $3,000. At each of the last three tournaments we have raised over $1,000 for this offering. Let's all try to do more this year.
Please promote this year’s offering on your districts and come prepared to share this ministry with those areas that are asking for it.
Equipment needs
Another need related to the offering is used equipment. If you have any of the Quiz Time boxes that are in good working order but have been retired (as you move to the computer based equipment), please consider bringing them to this event. We will collect them and work on ways to deliver them to areas of the world where they can be used.
