Tournament Information:
This is a District All-Star Team Tournament (only 2 All-Star Teams per District; NOT for Local Teams).
Teams will be divided into pools & compete in a preliminary round robin tournament within their pool. The
finals tournament structure will be dependent upon total number of teams at tournament (finalized format
will be emailed week of 11/22/2010).
Individual awards will be given based on the preliminary round robin competition only.
Tournament Schedule (rough outline):
Friday, December 3, 2010 Saturday, December 4, 2010
3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Teams arrive & set-up equipment 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Finals Competition/Devotions
4:30 - 4:45 p.m. Opening Meetings 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Awards
5:00 - 11:00 p.m. Preliminary Round Robin Competition 3:30 p.m. Teams Depart
This is a “rough” outline of the schedule. Teams will receive an email update with the actual schedule the
week of November 22. However, due to the number of teams that now participate in this tournament, ALL
teams should plan to arrive at the church NO LATER THAN 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. There are
planned to be dinner options at the church. Every team will have at least one round off between 5:00 and
7:00 p.m. to eat at the church snack bar or cafeteria. The final schedule & meal options will be posted and
emailed the week of Nov.24.
Tournament Participant responsibilities:
*EQUIPMENT:
Each district should plan to bring at least 1 set of jump seats. Also, PLEASE bring a tape recorder, blank
tape and extension cord if at all possible.
**OFFICIALS:
Please provide names of individuals who will be coming with you to the tournament who are EXPERIENCED
in serving as quizmasters (experienced at an advanced level of competition), content judges and/or
scorekeepers. In order to properly staff the tournament, PLEASE bring as many experienced officials as you
can!
Once a list of available officials has been compiled, the particular capacity in which each official will serve
will be assigned.
We will do our best to have experienced officials from all regions represented at the tournament and to
use your officials in their preferred assignment—but this cannot be guaranteed. We will communicate the
capacity in which they will be used prior to the tournament.
In the past, districts have been responsible for staffing and equipping one quiz area each (“sponsoring”
the officials that they bring). Although the tournament has grown, it has been increasingly difficult to staff
and equip the growing number of quiz areas. Please do your best to bring at least one official. This helps
keep tournament registration fees from growing again.
